WELCOME TO ANGUILLA, BWI

Known for its pristine beaches and as an exquisite get-away from the glare of city lights, Anguilla is a British Overseas Territory in the Eastern Caribbean. 


Situated to the east of Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands and to the north of St Martin, FWI, travelling to Anguilla is straightforward, with direct flights to its Clayton J Lloyd Airport (AXA), and to Princess Juliana International Airport in neighbouring St. Maarten (SXM).  Onward travel to Anguilla is around 5 minutes by air, or under 20 minutes by ferry boat from French St. Martin. 

English is the official language in Anguilla.  The Eastern Caribbean Dollar (XCD) is the official currency, although the US Dollar is widely accepted.  The exchange rate in commerce stands at USD1 :  XCD2.68 (XCD2.6882 being the local government exchange rate).

Anguilla is internally self-governing, with a UK Governor locum who governs the civil service, prison service and police force.  Its judiciary is independent of its executive and legislative bodies, with the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court presiding over matters.  Anguilla is a common law jurisdiction, and the highest appellate court is the Privy Council of England Wales.

The Anguilla economy is predominantly fuelled by tourism, offshore financial services and fishing.

The popularity of Anguilla as a tax haven has risen through the years, due to is zero-tax status: there is no capital gains, estate, profit or corporate tax levied on the island.
